A false claim widely circulated on WhatsApp groups that the Federal Government is giving out 25,000 Naira conditional cash transfer as a Fuel Subsidy removal palliative. The link is not limited to WhatsApp groups only, it was shared to people’s DM.

After registration, the claim further directed people to share the referral link to different groups till a box was filled up.
FINDINGS
Findings conducted by SHO PEN ONLINE’s Fact-Checker, Sanni Abdullahi showed that the message is FAKE and the Federal Government did not announce or release an online financial grant scheme for the disbursement of the Fuel Subsidy removal conditional cash transfer to Nigerians.
In additional checking, a click on the link will take the users to a website in which they will be asked to fill in personal details and then a set of instructions will appear with Click here to fill account number form. A click on the ‘account number form’ will ask for bank details including the BVN number. This is a link cooked up by a catfish (Fraudster) to scam Nigerians. Therefore, desist from clicking and sharing false information. Don’t be a victim and a tool for scamming!
The Members of the public are hereby urged to disregard any communication that did not originate from any reliable source and to avoid participating in any online scheme intended to defraud innocent citizens.
