IGP Kayode Egbetokun, the acting Inspector-General of Police, has authorized an in-depth investigation into the passing of singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, known as Mohbad.
This directive was revealed by the Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), alongside a photo featuring the IGP and Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Idowu Owohunwa.
Adejobi’s caption stated, ‘The IGP and CP Lagos discussing the circumstances of Mohbad’s demise at the Police Airwing, Muritala Mohammed Airport in Ikeja, Lagos, on Saturday.’
He further mentioned that the IGP promptly instructed CP Lagos to allocate the necessary resources for a comprehensive investigation. The IGP assured the CP of full support in handling the case.
This directive follows a commitment made by the police two days earlier to thoroughly investigate the events surrounding the 27-year-old’s passing on Tuesday evening.
Mohbad, renowned for his Afrobeats hit ‘KPK (Ko Por Ke),’ was previously signed to Marlian Records but departed in 2022 to establish his own record label, Imolenization.”
