Mr. Babatunde Fashola (SAN), the former Minister of Works and Housing, has spoken out about not being appointed to President Bola Tinubu’s cabinet.
In his perspective, he doesn’t require a formal title to serve in the administration led by President Tinubu, which he believes is nurturing the next generation of leaders.
Fashola, a close associate of Tinubu, made these remarks during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) at the Lagos State University, Ojo.
He was at the university to deliver a keynote address at its fifth research and innovation fair.
The former Lagos State Governor, who also served as Tinubu’s Chief of Staff during Tinubu’s governorship, responded to inquiries regarding his role in the current federal administration and the possibility of an appointment.
Fashola emphasized that he doesn’t need a formal position to contribute to society and stated that citizens should play their roles without the need for titles.
He expressed that the president can appoint only one minister from each state, and this has been done. Additionally, there are limited positions in government parastatals, and considering Nigeria’s large population, there aren’t enough offices for everyone.
Fashola underscored the importance of all citizens playing their part and encouraged the inclusion of more young individuals in the administration to prepare for the next generation of leaders.
