
No fewer than two person were injured in a road accident that occurred on Saturday afternoon at Agric area, Sango road in Ilorin, Kwara state capital.
Our correspondent who arrived at the scene of the accident gathered that, the casualties, a male commercial motorcycle rider and a female passenger sustained injuries when a long truck conveying cassava toppled over in front of Kwara state university contact office in Sango, Ilorin.

An eye witness, Mallam Abdulrafiu Olarewaju Asukuti told Sho Pen Online’s correspondent that, “the truck out of control toppled on two individuals who are on a bike – immediately the lady was recused but the Motorcycle rider was still under the container of the truck that fell on him for about an hour. Residents and road users made several efforts to contact government’s road agency for a towing vehicle that will lift the truck’s container but KWARTMA officials were unable to reach the spot due to the road blockage my the angry mob,” Asukuti said.

According to him, “people contributed money to hire the towing vehicle that removed the overturned truck and the Okada rider was rescued with several injuries.”

Meanwhile, the victims were taken to the hospital for immediate medical attention and security operatives present at the spot ensured a peaceful atmosphere.
Sho Pen Online however urged the government at all levels to establish a standby or rapid rescue vehicle that will be contacted and earnestly arrived in emergency situations.
