Nigerian striker Taiwo Awoniyi from Nottingham Forest has been included in the shortlist for the Premier League Player of the Month award for August 2023.
Awoniyi, who scored three goals in four games for Forest, has continued his impressive form from the previous season. The Premier League stated, “The Nigerian striker scored in each of Nottingham Forest’s first three matches, extending his overall scoring streak to seven consecutive Premier League matches, a feat achieved by only two other African players.”
The nominees for the award include Taiwo Awoniyi, Jarrod Bowen (West Ham), James Maddison (Tottenham Hotspur), Rodri (Manchester City), Bryan Mbeumo (Brentford), and Kaoru Mitoma (Brighton and Hove Albion).
