The Presidential Election Petitions Court has upheld Bola Tinubu’s election as President, confirming that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was correct in declaring him the winner of the February 25, 2023, poll.
The court found that the petitioner, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Atiku Abubakar, failed to substantiate their allegations.
Justice Haruna Tsammani, leading a five-member panel, stated, “This petition lacks merit, and I affirm Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the duly elected President of Nigeria. The parties are responsible for their own costs.”
Additionally, the court removed 37 exhibits presented by witnesses from its records. Concerning the issues of Tinubu’s conviction and dual citizenship, the Tribunal reiterated that these matters were invalid and should be struck out, which they were.
