In a surprising turn of events at this year’s Headies Awards held in Atlanta, Georgia last night, rising Nigerian music sensation Ayra Starr seized the spotlight not for her musical prowess, but for her bold stance on the award ceremony’s handling of the Best Female Artist category.
As the evening unfolded, anticipation was high to see which talented female artist would take home the prestigious title. However, to the dismay of both attendees and fans watching worldwide, the Best Female Artist award was conspicuously absent from the on-stage presentations.
Ayra Starr, known for her hit songs and strong vocal talent, took to her twitter page to expressed her disappointment with the omission of the Best Female Artist award presentation.
She wrote; I will never be grateful for winning a category that wasn’t even deemed fit to be announced on stage ! Best female artist na beans ? We work hard, every single one of us ! I’ve seen Tiwa record 4 hit songs in the same night , Tems breaths and lives for music , we didn’t deserve such nonchalance! Nigeria , you didn’t raise me to settle for less”
