Manchester United are seriously considering Tottenham Hotspur’s Sergio Reguilon as their new left-back.
United had submitted a proposal to sign Marc Cucurella but after the Spaniard played for Chelsea in the Carabao Cup win against AFC Wimbledon on Wednesday night, they are now actively exploring a move for Reguilon.
Cucurella remains United’s first choice. However, Reguilon is considered as his backup should the deal fall through.
Reguilon spent last season on loan at Atletico Madrid, where he made 12 appearances. He is yet to make an appearance for Spurs this season.
United are searching for a left-back after an injury to Luke Shaw. Tyrell Malacia is also sidelined leaving 20-year-old Alvaro Fernandez as United’s only recognised player for the position.
Diogo Dalot operated at left-back for United’s victory over Nottingham Forest on Saturday.
