Hollywood actress Julia Roberts met with Manchester United players and staff on their pre-season tour of the United States.
Roberts, a longtime fan of the Red Devils, was given unfiltered access to the team during their stay in New Jersey. She posed for photos with manager Erik ten Hag and other stars, including Marcus Rashford, Bruno Fernandes, and Scott McTominay.
The Premier League giants also presented Roberts with a home shirt inscribed with the number one and her name on the back.
Roberts’ star status matches United’s biggest names, and she was clearly a hit with the players. Rashford put his arm around her as they posed for a photo, and Casemiro grinned ear-to-ear as he stood next to her.
City manager Pep Guardiola might have been disappointed to see Roberts meeting with his rivals, as he has previously said that she is one of his three idols.
“I have three idols in my life,” Guardiola said in 2016. “Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods, and Julia Roberts. These are my three idols.”
“Julia Roberts years ago came to Manchester – not in the 90s when Sir Alex (Ferguson) was winning titles and titles and titles,” he added. “She came in the period where we were better than United, in these four or five years, right?”
Roberts’ visit to United comes as the team prepares for the upcoming season. They will begin their Premier League campaign on August 6 against Brighton & Hove Albion.
