
The Grand Mufti of Ilorin Emirate, Sheikh Dr Suleiman Faruq-Onikijipa (OON) has admonished Nigerians, particularly Muslims to imbibe the lessons of the Hijrah, and to remain steadfast on the path of Islam.
Sheikh Faruq-Onikijipa gave the charge in a congratulatory message to felicitate with Muslims across the world on this year’s Hijjrah celebration and made it available to newsmen.
The Grand Mufti of Ilorin urged Muslims to appreciate and learn about the Hijrah event where Prophet Muhammad led Muslims from Makkah to Madinah, towards strengthening solidarity of the ummah.
Sheikh Faruq-Onikijipa called on Muslims to use this year’s Hijjrah to pray fervently to overcome challenges confronting the nation, adding that prayer is the best solution to any adversity.
The Grand Mufti of Ilorin then congratulated Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari and Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq for the approval of first of Muharram as a work-free day in the state, which had been called for by the Muslim community for a period of time.
