Director of community impact ABS foundation; Comrade Olayinka Otukoko, Lecturer Kwara Poly Mass Communication department; Mr. Ayuba Olufadi, Hajia Fatimah Dikko; Enetsud Director of Community service and other individuals received a meritorious award at the second edition of Play With Kwara Youths (PWKY) football tournament.
PWKY is a sporting activities organized to promote harmony among Kwara Youths irrespective of the political divide. The first edition was held on 23rd of April 2023 with four teams of 8 players each.
While the recent edition which featured Ludo, Table Tennis and Bottle Flipping game, took place on 1st of July at Artificial Turf, Unilorin Gate, Tanke, Oke-Odo in Ilorin Kwara state capital.
About 6 teams participated in the second edition with 9 players and a coach. Team Godfather, Team Advocate, Team Moh, Team Enact and Team Actor and Team Otukoko respectively.
At the end of the football match played within 6 Teams, Team Godfather emerged as the winner with 11points, unbeaten records.
Team Otukoko took second with 10 points, followed by Team Actor, Team Advocate, Team Moh and Team Enact at the least of the table.
Speaking with newsmen shortly after game, PWKY convener; Comrade Yusuf Mutiu Olaitan Young Sturar explained that, *We have to fill the gap that is between Kwara Youths which is created by politics and all sort of things.
“Some of us sat and formulated this idea and everyone that participated bought it in, that means they believed in me (Convener) and all members of the committee.”
Sturaro who noted that the success secret of Play With Kwara Youths lies with the participants, said, “Next edition will be when Kwara Youth decided to have it, because this is their program, this is what they want and we will give it to them when they demand for it.”
Below are the breakdown of the awardees:
Best Coach of the tournament; Comrade Olayinka Otukoko, Highest Goal scorer; Mr. Ayuba Olufadi, Best Fan of the tournament; Hajia Fatimah Dikko, Most Valuable player of the tournament; Comrade Shehu Suleiman Kayode, and Comrade Jimba is the Goalkeeper of the tournament.
Others are; Oniyo Shukurat, Winner Ludo competition and Muhammad Awwal Jawondo, Table tennis overall winner. Similarly Sho Pen Online, Just Event online, Satcom Media, News Crescent media and Prudent watch online received certificate of appreciation for supporting the program with publicity and coverage.
