A 26-year-old robbery suspect, Waheed Oladipupo, was on Thursday remanded in prison custody by an Osun State Magistrates’ Court sitting in Ile-Ife.

Oladipupo, who is standing trial for possession of an illicit drug and robbery, was also alleged to have threatened to kill one Inspector Olawale Fabelurin on the court premises on Tuesday.

He was arraigned on three counts of robbery, possession of Indian hemp and threat to life.

Addressing the court, the police prosecutor, Sunday Osanyintuyi, said the accused committed the offences on March 3, 2019, in the  Ogbingbin area of Ile-Ife, when he robbed one Kasali Muideen of one I-phone 6 valued at N103,000, and a gold wristwatch valued at N14,000.

Osanyintuyi stated that the accused also had in his possession 35kg of a substance suspected to be Indian hemp and could not give satisfactory explanation on how he got the substance.

He added that Oladipupo, also on Tuesday, June 25, 2019, on the court premises threatened to kill Fabelurin anytime he was released from prison.

According to the prosecutor, the offences contravene sections 86, 401 and 430 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun State, 2002.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The defence counsel, Mr Bolaji Adewale, urged the court to commit Oladipupo to bail with a pledge that he would be available to stand trial.
