Reports coming in says that, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo is at the moment holding a meeting behind closed doors with Senator Ali Ndume, a former Senate Leader, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Ndume was said to have arrived at the Vice President’s office around 3.20pm with the meeting commencing immediately.

The meeting between Osinbajo and Ndume was still in progression at the time of filing this report.

Ndume is one of the frontline aspirants to be the Senate President for the 9th Senate in June. He had declared his intention to run for the number three highest political office in the land despite the endorsement of the current Senate Leader, Ahmed Lawan for Senate Presidency by the ruling All Progressives Congress.

The Borno State born politician is viewed by many as as a detribalised person who it seems is appears to be having the support of some of the senators across party line.

However, he may have a tough nut to crack as he was a staunch opposition to some policies of the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki. This appears to be the major obstacle he may face in the fulfillment of his dreams.

Ndume’s supporters cuts across a wide range of people. Recall that, some Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Maiduguri, Borno, have expressed support for the emergence of Sen. Ali Ndume as President of the 9th National Assembly.

They advocated for zoning of the senate presidency to the North East region and called on the National Working Committee of All Progressives Congress (APC), Borno Gov. Kashim Shettima and other stakeholders to support Ndume to clinch the senate apex position.

Some of the displaced persons told the Newsmen on Friday in Maiduguri that their appeal was to facilitate effective leadership of the senate toward consolidating successes recorded in the war against insurgency and other national issues.

Malam Buba Muhammed, a displaced person, said emergence of Ndume as senate president would fast track proactive legislation to facilitate successful operation of Northeast Development Commission (NEDC), rehabilitation, reconstruction and resettlement of victims in the war ravaged region
