Nigeria as a country has suffered a great deal in the hands of the Islamist terrorist group, Boko Haram allegedly linked to ISIS.

While many have fallen under the sword of the killer group and some areas in the Northern Part of Nigeria have been captured by them, the Nigerian armed forces have toiled day and night to put an end to their terrorist activities. In the course of putting an end to terrorist attacks in Nigeria, the Nigerian armed forces has also had its fair share of tears, pain and victory.

Sadly a rather tragic event occurred on Sunday while taking flight to the battlefield to put an end to the menace of the Boko Haram terrorist group. An air force officer identified as Umar lost his life while passing through the side of the functioning rotor.

According to report, a colleague of the diseased, who witnessed the incident, explained that it happened at Bama in Borno state on Saturday evening. The aircraft was said to have developed a fault.

The victim who was said to be an aircraftman lost his head immediately as he returned from dropping his bags. Reports say that his head was chopped off by the rotor which was functioning.

“The aircraft has been recovered and taken back to the airbase. No damage was found on the tail rotor,” the source said.


It was learnt that family members of the deceased have been informed while the burial arrangement was on as of the time this report was filed.
